Maydi Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 24, 2026

In short: Maydi works entirely on your iPhone. There is no Maydi account, and Maydi does not send your trips to Kate Nguyen or to any server. Maydi 1.0 has no cloud backup, sync, or restore. Maydi does not use ads, tracking, or analytics, and does not sell your personal information.

Maydi is developed and operated by Kate Nguyen, Washington, United States. For privacy questions, contact kate.nguyen.dev@gmail.com.

1. Information Maydi handles

Trip data, stored on your iPhone. Maydi stores trip information locally on your iPhone, including trip names and currency, member names and colors, expenses, notes, dates, categories, payers, participants, payment splits, settlements, and app preferences such as your chosen appearance. Maydi works offline. This data stays on your device: Kate Nguyen does not receive it, and Maydi does not upload it anywhere.

Information about other people. A user may enter another person's name as a trip member. In that case, the information comes from the Maydi user who entered it and stays on that user's iPhone. Please only enter information about other people when you have an appropriate reason or permission to do so.

Exports and sharing. You can share a trip summary as text or as a PDF using the standard iOS share sheet. A summary leaves Maydi only when you choose to share it, and it goes only to the app, service, or person you choose; Kate Nguyen does not receive a copy. Maydi creates the export file temporarily, protected by iOS data protection, and deletes it after you finish sharing or cancel.

Support communications. If you email for support, the email address, name you provide, message, and any attachments you choose to send are received and used to respond to your request and maintain appropriate support records.

2. No account and no cloud backup

Maydi 1.0 has no account system and no sign-in of any kind. It does not provide its own cloud backup, synchronization between devices, or restore. The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or cloud-service software, and it does not make network connections of its own.

The app connects to the internet only when you ask it to: opening this Privacy Policy from Settings → About opens it in your browser, and sharing a trip summary sends it where you choose.

3. Why information is used

Maydi uses the trip data on your iPhone only to provide the app: to display and manage trips, expenses, balances, and settlements; to generate summaries and exports you request; and to remember your app preferences. Support communications are used to respond to your request and for legitimate support and security purposes.

4. Deleting your data

You can edit or delete trips, members, expenses, and settlements in the app at any time. Deleting a trip also deletes the members, expenses, and settlements that belong to it.

Maydi stores your trips on your iPhone. Deleting Maydi may permanently remove your trip data. Maydi 1.0 does not offer a way to back up or restore it. If you want a record of a trip, share its summary as a PDF or text and save it somewhere you choose.

Your iPhone's own backup features, such as iCloud Backup or a backup to a computer, are provided by Apple and controlled by your device settings. Maydi does not control them and does not promise that they will or will not include or restore Maydi data.

When you delete an item, Maydi keeps a small record of the deletion on your iPhone, containing technical identifiers, the item type, the trip it belonged to, and the time of deletion. It contains no names, notes, or amounts, and it is never sent anywhere. It is removed when you delete Maydi.

5. Earlier test versions with Cloud Backup

Some pre-release test versions of Maydi offered an optional Cloud Backup that used Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore) to keep a cloud copy of trip data under an anonymous identifier. Maydi 1.0 does not include this feature and does not connect to Firebase. If you turned Cloud Backup on in a test version and would like any remaining cloud copy deleted, contact kate.nguyen.dev@gmail.com. Because there were no accounts, you may be asked for information reasonably necessary to locate that copy, if it can be located. Google states that deleted customer data is removed from its systems within a maximum of 180 days, unless law requires otherwise.

6. Retention

7. No advertising, sale, or tracking

Maydi does not use advertising networks, analytics, behavioral advertising, or tracking technology to follow you across other companies' apps or websites. Maydi does not sell personal information and does not use trip information to build advertising profiles.

Because the Maydi app does not perform this kind of tracking or targeted advertising, browser “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals do not change the app's behavior.

8. Sensitive information

Do not use Maydi to store health, medical, biometric, government-ID, financial-account, password, or other highly sensitive personal information.

Maydi is a travel expense-sharing tool and is not designed to collect or infer consumer health data or other sensitive personal information. Free-text fields such as trip names, member names, expense descriptions, and notes are user-controlled and stay on your iPhone unless you share a summary that contains them.

9. Third-party services

Apple. Maydi is distributed through Apple's App Store, and the share sheet and your device's backup features are provided by Apple. Apple's handling of information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

GitHub Pages. This privacy-policy page and the Maydi Support page are hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub states that it logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes. Maydi does not add its own analytics or advertising scripts to these pages. GitHub's processing is governed by the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

10. Your privacy choices and rights

You can edit or delete trip information in the app, share only what you choose to share, and uninstall the app.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may also give you rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection concerning personal data that Kate Nguyen controls, such as support messages. You may contact kate.nguyen.dev@gmail.com to make a privacy request. Kate Nguyen does not receive, and cannot remotely access or delete, trip data that exists only on your iPhone.

If European or UK data-protection law applies, you may also have the right to complain to the data-protection authority responsible for your location. Maydi does not use personal data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

11. Children

Maydi is not directed to children under 13, and Kate Nguyen does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through Maydi. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a support request, contact kate.nguyen.dev@gmail.com.

12. Security

Maydi relies on the security of your iPhone, including iOS data protection, to protect the trip data it stores. No method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Maydi's features, data practices, service providers, or legal obligations change. If a future version of Maydi adds features that send data off your iPhone, such as accounts or cloud backup, this policy will be updated before that version is released. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date and, when appropriate, by providing notice in the app or another reasonable method before the change takes effect.
